The aim of this module is that social professionals working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or cognitive impairment know what burnout is as well as possible strategies at group, organisational and individual level (resilience, social support, coping strategies, stress management, self-care, mindfulness, meditation, healthy living habits).

What is burnout?

Burnout is the result of long-term exposure to repeated and continuous episodes of stress (a consequence of chronic stress experienced over time in the work environment). Both share the presence of physical disturbances such as gastrointestinal disorders, breathing difficulties, tachycardia, loss of appetite, myalgia, etc

What can we do against burnout?

Against burnout there are different lines of action, at the individual level (resilience, social support, coping strategies, stress management, self-care, mindfulness, meditation, healthy lifestyle habits) and at the group and organisational level.
